About
About This Site
This is a specialist site for one thing: multi-day boat trips in Raja Ampat. Dive liveaboards, phinisi cruises for people who do not dive, and private charters. It is run by Asik Travel, which sells trips across Indonesia; this site exists because Raja Ampat cruises deserve more depth than a page on a general travel site can give them.
What we do differently
Search for a Raja Ampat liveaboard and you will mostly find aggregators. They list boats, they show a price, and they stop. What they do not tell you is which of those trips is long enough to reach Misool, why a cabin on a shared boat and a whole charter are not comparable numbers, or what the person who is not diving does between eight in the morning and six at night.
Those are the questions people actually ask us, so those are the questions this site answers.
Three things follow from that.
We publish the reasoning, not just the product. Our shortest cruise is seven nights because no credible operator sells shorter, and the reason is distance rather than preference. Our Misool routes are nine nights and up because nobody does Misool well in less. We say so on the pages, including where it costs us a sale.
We source the numbers and show our working. The Raja Ampat environmental permit is the clearest example. Operators publish figures for it that disagree by a factor of two, on at least three different bases. We took ours from the authority that charges it, and we say where the market's figures differ.
We mark what we cannot confirm. Where a fact could not be verified from a primary source, the page says so rather than guessing. That is deliberate and it will not change. A confident wrong number about a boarding time or a certification requirement costs somebody their trip.
How to read the dive site pages
Every dive site page opens with depth, current, certification level and season, as four plain facts.
Something worth knowing about those numbers: no scientific body, marine park authority or conservation organisation publishes per-site depth and current data for Raja Ampat. It does not exist. The best available source is operator experience, so that is what these figures are, and each page says so rather than implying a scientific basis it does not have.
Enquiries
Enquiries reach the same team that answers for the rest of the Asik Travel group, by decision rather than by accident. One team that knows the region beats three inboxes that do not.
We reply by email, normally within 24 hours, with what is genuinely available for your dates. Nothing is booked and no payment is taken at that stage.
