Dampier Strait and Fam in 7 Nights

Seven nights is the shortest Raja Ampat trip we will sell from Sorong, and this page says exactly what those nights can cover.

The route stays with the Dampier Strait and Fam. It does not imply that Misool sits around the next corner. It does not place Wayag on a map without showing the days needed to reach it. The market research found no credible operator selling below six nights, while the short end of the market focuses on these northern areas. Seven gives the route enough room to work.

What the nights buy

You board in Sorong. That avoids a separate ferry to Waisai and gives the crew a clear start for safety information, equipment setup and the check dive.

The middle of the trip uses several full diving days in Dampier, one Fam day and a Piaynemo block. The route then returns to Dampier under a different tide rather than chasing another region.

Three dives a day is the working design on full days. A night dive is planned where site conditions, group experience and boat movement permit. "Up to" is not a guarantee that every calendar day carries the same count.

Who the route suits

This is for Advanced Open Water divers with at least twenty logged dives and useful current experience. Dampier contains exposed ridges and pinnacles. A diver who spends the whole entry solving buoyancy or equipment will see less and place more work on the group.

The check dive lets guides observe weighting, control and group fit. It does not erase the minimum or act as a course.

Who should not book it

Do not book this product if Misool is the fixed purpose. Choose the nine-night south route or the eleven-night full-park cruise.

Do not book it if nobody in the group dives. A leisure cruise gives non-divers control of the day instead of asking them to wait through tank cycles.

A new Open Water diver with no current experience should also choose a route and operator plan specifically built around their level. The AOW label here is a real product condition, not brochure decoration.

The diving

Dampier supplies the current-led days. Sites may include offshore structures, ridges and jetties, but the itinerary does not promise a fixed named sequence. The guide chooses from water and group ability.

Fam changes the pace. Melissa's Garden diving near Piaynemo has the strongest all-level agreement in our site research, though its current can still strengthen.

Arborek and another shallow reef fit the final diving day. The jetty can also give a non-diver shared visual interest when a tender and crew member support snorkelling.

No animal is guaranteed. Mantas, sharks, turtles and fish schools are reported possibilities at regional sites, not inclusions.

Piaynemo

The viewpoint is a daylight activity within a dive cruise. It does not change the operating shape of the rest of the week.

Access, footwear and the final timing are briefed aboard. A guest may choose not to climb. The crew can change the block if conditions or local arrangements require it.

Boat class and cabin promise

The placeholder product uses a steel-hull dive liveaboard with eight cabins and no more than sixteen guests. We do not name a vessel before a real contract and departure assignment exist.

Cabin configuration, outlet type, nitrox availability, rental sizes and camera facilities must be confirmed on the assigned boat. The class is fixed in this design; unconfirmed details are not.

What the price basis means

The structured range is per person sharing a twin cabin. It is market-derived placeholder data stored once in the pricing block, not prose that will drift across translations.

The park permit, rental gear and gratuities sit outside that basis. Nitrox and alcohol are also explicit exclusions. Compare another quote only after those lines match.

The environmental permit figure comes from the managing authority: IDR 700,000 for international visitors and IDR 425,000 for Indonesian citizens, valid twelve months, with children under twelve exempt. We do not state a total entry cost because a possible second ticket remains unresolved.

Last dives and flights

The final dives happen on day seven. The route then stops diving before day-eight disembarkation and onward flights.

We do not publish exact flight connections because the airline and government schedule research could not be verified at primary source. Arrive in Sorong before boarding day and use the confirmed transfer instructions.

The honest short trip

This route is not a reduced full park. It is a complete Dampier and Fam week.

If seven nights is the available time, that focus gives better diving than an itinerary that spends the same week apologising for distance.
