Arborek Jetty

Arborek Jetty is one of the clearest places where a diver and snorkeller can share the point of the stop. Pilings, shallow coral and schooling fish sit within view from the surface as well as below it.

That crossover needs a current warning. One source publishes strong current. Another says the site can have very little movement but can also become strong enough to suit experienced divers better. We keep the strong category and let the guide decide whether the day matches an all-level plan.

The dive

The published range is two to eighteen metres. Divers can work around the pilings and nearby reef without chasing depth.

Operator descriptions report schooling jacks and silversides under the jetty, hard and soft coral and giant clams. Longer animal lists include sweetlips, batfish, wobbegong and pygmy seahorses.

The jetty structure makes a useful photography subject, but divers must stay clear of community use, tender movement and each other. Do not block access while composing a frame.

Snorkelling

One operator calls the snorkelling notably good and warns about shallow coral. A snorkeller can see fish around the pilings and reef top while divers use the deeper edge.

Entry still needs a guide, tender and current check. Do not jump from the jetty or swim independently because the reef looks close.

Experience conflict

One source labels Arborek all-level. The other points to strong-current occasions and experienced-diver suitability. Both can be true on different tides.

An Open Water diver with good buoyancy may use a sheltered, shallow plan when current is mild. If water moves strongly through the pilings, the guide should choose another site or limit the group.

We use AOW in the specification to reflect the demanding end, not to claim a legal site minimum.

The village boundary

Arborek is an inhabited village. This page covers the jetty as a dive and snorkel site, not the village as an attraction. Community access and photography follow local arrangements.

Ask before photographing people. Keep dive equipment out of working paths and follow tender instructions. A jetty does not become private cruise infrastructure when a boat arrives.

Wildlife claims

A marketing source includes dugongs in a long list. That is not evidence of a reliable encounter. We omit the claim from highlights and FAQ expectations.

The same rule applies to every animal. Habitat and prior sightings create potential, not a booking promise.

Season and access

No audited source gives a site-specific season. Arborek is visited by regional day boats and liveaboards, subject to community arrangements and conditions.

Its strength is shared shallow interest. Its limitation is that current can turn an easy-looking jetty into the wrong site for the group.

That judgement belongs in the day's briefing, not in a permanent label.
